Every page opens with the brandband directly above the topbar. The brand block always links home; the current section carries a navy 3 px underline.

Sidenav groups are 11.5 px caps and never clickable. The active item takes a navy left edge and the lightest accent tint — the same left-edge device the system uses for alerts and stats, so "you are here" reads the same everywhere.
